About Dr. Steven Stein

Dr. Steven Stein is a globally recognized clinical psychologist, best-selling author, and dynamic speaker. He is the founder and Executive Chair of Multi-Health Systems, MHS, a leading publisher of scientifically validated assessments for over four decades. Under his leadership, MHS has earned accolades such as being a three-time PROFIT 100 company, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies since 2013, and one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures (Waterstone, 2016). In 2015, Dr. Stein was named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in Health Care.

A pioneer in emotional intelligence and psychological assessment, Dr. Stein has advised elite military and government agencies—including the Canadian Forces, U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, and the FBI Academy—as well as global corporations like American Express, Air Canada, Coca-Cola Mexico, and Canyon Ranch. His expertise has also been sought by professional sports teams and high-stakes environments where performance and resilience are critical.

In the world of television, Dr. Stein brings psychological insight to reality shows such as Big Brother Canada, The Amazing Race Canada, MasterChef Canada, and Canada’s Ultimate Challenge. He also led a team of 17 psychologists to provide round-the-clock support for the high-intensity Beast Games.

Dr. Stein is the author of several influential books, including The EQ Leader, Emotional Intelligence For Dummies, and Make Your Workplace Great. He co-authored the international bestseller The EQ Edge and most recently, Hardiness: Making Stress Work for You to Achieve Your Life Goals.

He is the host of the podcast  Work Therapy: When Work Sucks, How Can We Fix It?, and has made guest appearances on more than two dozen podcasts discussing emotional intelligence and hardiness. He has been featured on over 100 TV and radio programs, including CNBC’s Squawk Box, Canada AM, and Fox Business Report. His insights have appeared in publications such as Fast Company, Inc., Fortune, The Globe and Mail, and The Huffington Post.

Dr. Stein has spoken to audiences across six continents, sharing his knowledge on emotional intelligence and hardiness. He teaches at the Directors College (DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University) and has held academic roles at the University of Toronto and York University. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association and a past President of the Ontario Psychological Association.
